The Day He Told Me He Had A Wife

How did I end up here?

I thought I was engaged to a Hip Hop mogul.

For years, he treated me like a queen.

The gifts came without asking.
The bills got paid.
The attention was consistent.
The love felt real.

He spent holidays with me.
Traveled with me.
Showed up for me.

Never once did I question where he disappeared to because somehow he always made time.

I had two children depending on me, and he made sure we never lacked anything.

So imagine my shock when one day he sat me down and calmly told me something that changed everything...

He was married.

Not separated.
Not getting divorced.

Married.

With children.

A whole family that somehow existed outside of the world he had built with me.

I remember staring at him waiting for the punchline.

The Day He Told Me He Had A Wife — visual 1

Waiting for him to laugh and say he was joking.

But he wasn't.

Then came the ultimatum.

He told me he loved me.

He wasn't leaving me.

But he also wasn't leaving them.

I could walk away and start over from scratch...

Or I could stay exactly where I was.

Protected.
Provided for.
Taken care of.

My children would never want for anything.

The life we built wouldn't change.

The only thing that changed was the truth.

And suddenly I found myself facing a decision most women swear they'd never make...

The Day He Told Me He Had A Wife — visual 2

Until life puts them in that exact position.

Everyone loves to say what they'd do.

But when you're responsible for two children...

When you've built years with someone...

When the man you love is offering security, loyalty, protection, and a future...

The answer isn't always as simple as people think.

That was the day I learned that life isn't black and white.

Sometimes it's rose gold and gray.

And that was the beginning of my Mob Mistress era.

To be continued...
