Audio Porn: What the Title Really Means and Why I Made This Album

I knew the title 'Audio Porn' would turn heads. That was part of the point. But this album isn't what you might think when you first hear the name — it's deeper than that, more personal, and honestly, more vulnerable than anything I'd put out before.

Audio Porn is my R&B album, and I need to be clear about that because I do both — I rap and I sing. 'Ova 40' was my rap album, where I came with bars and that Philly edge. But Audio Porn is where I let my voice breathe, where I sang about intimacy, longing, heartbreak, and the kind of connection that makes you feel everything at once. That's what the title means: sound that touches you so deeply it's almost physical. Music that makes you feel seen in your most private moments.

I made this album from a place of honesty I wasn't always brave enough to live in. After decades in hip-hop, after building In Da Streets Radio and everything else, I was in my 40s and finally comfortable saying what I really wanted to say about love, desire, and the complications that come with both. I wanted women my age — grown women who've lived some life — to hear themselves in these songs. I wanted to create something that felt like a late-night conversation between two people who trust each other enough to tell the truth.

The creative process was different from my rap work. With Audio Porn, I had to slow down. I had to sit with melodies until they felt right in my chest. I wrote lyrics that were more poetic, less punch-line driven. I wanted the production to wrap around the vocals like silk — smooth, intimate, something you'd want to play when the lights are low and you're in your feelings.

There were moments making this album when I questioned if I was being too revealing, too open. But that's exactly why it needed to exist. We spend so much time performing strength, especially as women in hip-hop, especially as Black women building businesses and holding communities together. Audio Porn was my permission slip to be soft, sensual, and fully human.

What do I want you to feel when you listen? I want you to feel permission too. Permission to want what you want. Permission to express your desires without apologizing. Permission to be grown and sexy and complicated. I want the vocals to move through you. I want you to close your eyes and let yourself feel whatever comes up — whether that's desire, memory, grief, joy, or all of it mixed together.

This album is part of my catalog as both a singer and a rapper, and I'm proud of that duality. I'm proud I didn't choose one lane. I'm proud I trusted my voice — literally and figuratively — to carry this project. And I'm grateful to everyone who's streamed it, played it in their private moments, and let it be a soundtrack to their own stories.

If you haven't listened to Audio Porn yet, I'm inviting you in. It's available on every major streaming platform — Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, wherever you listen. Put on your headphones, give yourself some space, and let it wash over you. That's what it's made for.
